The City of the Lost Angels

Los Angeles, Spanish for “City of the Lost Angels” is one the more popular places to visit in America. Hollywood and the famous Beverly Hills where you’ll find the homes of many Hollywood stars are just two of the alluring attractions in LA. Situated in southern California not many people know that this city is actually a desert. All the water that LA needs is imported from neighboring states. It is also prone to quite a bit of seismic activity.

Los Angeles is cultural mix. Besides immigrants from neighboring Mexico, places like Chinatown, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, even Little India show that many international communities have found a home here while retaining their own cultures.

There are tons of places to visit here. Find out how Hollywood movies are made in Universal and Parmount Studios. The Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard is where famous movie stars have etched their mark (literally their hands and feet!) forever on cement footpaths. Other places include the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Kodak Theatre, Griffith Observatory, The Getty Center (the largest private collection), Hollywood Sign, Capitol Records Tower, and Los Angeles City Hall. Olvera Street, in the old part of the city is one of the oldest streets in American history.
